Ruth Powell

Originally from Wales, Ruth currently coordinates the Irish Aid Volunteering and Information Centre on behalf of Kimmage DSC where she organises workshops, events and exhibitions in order to highlight key themes in development.

She also delivers the English for Development Studies course to students attending the academic programme at Kimmage DSC who need additional language support.

She has taught English to adult learners for over ten years in Prague, Copenhagen and Dublin and has two years of overseas teacher-training experience from her work in Ulaanbatar, Mongolia.  She has also facilitated pre-departure and de-briefing training to volunteers on behalf of Kimmage DSC and Comhlamh and continues to train groups on a freelance basis.

Ruth holds academic qualifications in History (BA) and Development Studies (MA). She contributes a monthly article which reflects teaching and training practises to the English language teachers’ website, and enjoys yoga, hill-walking and contemporary dance.
