Sonia enrolled in our Flexible and Distance Learning (FDL) MA programme in Autumn 2013, and will be researching her dissertation next year. We asked her how she came to join us, and how she’s getting on.
I read about Kimmage online and found it through a study portal link a friend sent to me. I was looking for an International Development course which was available online and flexible in its approach to students schedules. Kimmage FDL MA suites me so well, I am currently the Executive Secretary for OAFLA (Organisation of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS). We are a non-governmental organisation based in Addis Ababa, my job includes a lot of travelling, some trips are on very short notice, therefore the flexibility and understanding of lectures at Kimmage is much appreciated. Also another added benefit for me is the content in the modules I have completed so far, it is relevant to the work First Ladies are doing in countries and also to the secretariat in Addis Ababa, which I head. I use the modules learning on a daily basis in my current position and I can only imagine using the full knowledge gained at the end of my MA for this and future positions.
