We are happy to announce that Kimmage Development Studies Centre has appointed a new Executive Director, Rob Kevlihan, who will take up the position from January 2014.

Rob has a Masters in Accounting from University College, Dublin and a Masters in International Relations from Dublin City University. He completed his Ph.D in International Relations at The American University in Washington, D.C. in 2009 and is also a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Rob Kevlihan has been working as a practitioner and scholar in the development, humanitarian and international relations field for the past 15 years in both Africa (including Sudan, Angola and Ghana) and Asia (both Central and South East Asia). His research focuses on the nexus of conflict, development and security, with a particular focus on state building, conflict management and complex humanitarian emergencies. He has published peer reviewed articles in a number of scholarly journals, including Disasters, Nations and Nationalism, Ethnopolitics, The European Journal of Development Research, Irish Studies in International Affairs and International Studies Quarterly (forthcoming). In 2013 he published his first book, entitled “Aid, Insurgencies and Conflict Transformation, When Greed is Good”.

Rob succeeds the current Executive Director, Paddy Reilly, who has held that post since 1995. Paddy will be stepping aside from his current position to concentrate on other strategic work for Kimmage DSC. We all look forward to welcoming Rob to Kimmage and to working with him from 2014 onwards.
