Nessa Ní Chasaide is a teaching associate at Kimmage DSC. Nessa has been working in global justice campaigning for over 15 years. Her involvement in activism began as a student at University College Dublin (UCD). On leaving UCD she worked with Trócaire in Dublin and Kenya for over five years. Her work in Kenya caused her to shift her focus to highlighting the responsiblities of enriched countries in impoverishing countries of the South.
On her return to Ireland she completed a Masters in International Relations at Dublin City University. Since then she has worked with Oxfam Ireland and Dóchas and most recently as the co-ordinator of Debt and Development Coalition Ireland (DDCI) from 2006-2015. Her work at DDCI focused on campaigning for an end to the financial exploitation of Southern countries, in particular through campaigning for debt cancellation and global tax justice. Through this work, she also helped establish a campaign for the cancellation of Ireland’s socialised banking debt.
