Mags Liddy

Mags is a Teaching Associate at Kimmage DSC. Mags is finishing her PhD thesis at the University of Limerick in Ireland exploring the capacity of an overseas volunteering as a professional development experience, examining its impact on volunteers’ professional lives and identity. Her PhD research focuses on overseas volunteering as a form of social learning on global citizenship, where participants engage in a process of professional development in a different cultural and social context.

Mag’s wider research interests include globalisation and identity, activism and social change. For five years she worked on an education sustainable development research project called the Ubuntu Network, and lectured on global development, environment and citizenship topics with to B.Ed. students at UL.

Mags lives in the west of Ireland and enjoys hill walking, gardening and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean.
